I have NEVER had this much trouble installing a printer - EVER. No matter what I do - it simply will not successfully install/configure this printer - I've tried every process recommended - including attaching directly with a USB cable - and NO GO.  Brand new printer - and I REALLY need it working. SO FRUSTRATING.  Any advice?

Welcome to the HP support community.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

I’m sorry to say that due to the urgency of needing to be able to print, I had no choice but to return it and get a different (brand) printer.

To require support in the 1st hour of owning a brand new printer, is intolerable.  I wasted 3 hours of my life and lost that sleep time (up till midnight) trying to get that printer installed.  I never even made it to the point to add the ink cartridges!

By comparison, the new printer we bought, we had up and running in a several minutes…. Start-to-finish.

I’ve lost respect for HP - at least for inkjet printers.  I hope your quality hasn’t lagged in laser jets as well…

There’s no need for any follow up on my issue…. Too little… Too late…

thanks
