Cannot get MP3301 to automatically print on both sides. In the setup options screen it shows Print on 2-Sided (manually) but there is no way to change it to automatic. I set it to automatic on the printer options screen but it still doesn't work

@FintechWelcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding MP3301 – Unable to Print Automatically on Both Sides!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Let’s go through a few troubleshooting steps to resolve this.

Check Printer Capabilities

Some printer models only support manual duplex printing. Please verify in the printer’s user manual or on the manufacturer’s website if the MP3301 has automatic duplex functionality.

Enable Duplex Printing in Printer Preferences

  1. Press Win + R, type control printers, and hit Enter.
  2. Right-click your MP3301 printer and select Printing Preferences.
  3. Look for Print on Both Sides (Duplex Printing) and select Automatically.
  4. Click Apply > OK and try printing again.

Check Printer Driver Settings

  1. Go to Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
  2. Expand Printers, right-click your MP3301, and select Update Driver.
  3. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  4. If the issue persists, download and install the latest driver from the printer manufacturer’s support page.

Enable Duplex in Printer Properties

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer and select Printer Properties.
  3. Under the Device Settings tab, look for Duplex Unit and set it to Installed.
  4. Click Apply > OK and try printing again.

Use a Different Print Dialog

  • If printing from Microsoft Word or Adobe, go to Print > Printer Properties and enable Duplex Printing.
  • If printing from a browser, check Advanced Print Settings.

If these steps don’t work, let me know if:

  • The issue happens in all applications or just specific ones.
  • You see any error messages when attempting duplex printing.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
