Cannot install deskjet 5150 driver on XP

I have been using the deskjet 5150 for years without trouble. But it no longer works with Win 10 and 11. I tried installing the driver from the original CD Rom on my old XP machine, but it will not work because the OS rejects it. I set the system clock back to 2004. Still doesn't work. What's going on here? Has HP done this deliberately? Is there a workaround?

Thanks for the detailed reply. But the original issue was why my XP machine refuses to install the 5150 driver. The driver was certainly XP compatible. I suspected that HP built in a cut-off date in the driver software. But I set the XP date to 2004 and the installation also failed. This is bizarre. Meanwhile I was able to find the driver online. It installs, but the printer doesn't work.

UPDATE

I have been able to install the 5150 on my XP machine. Color prints, but black doesn't. I suspect a cartridge ussue. The mystery of the rejected installation disk still remains.
