I have given my printer to a friend and tried to remove it from my account through the HP Smart website. (I had an instant ink subscription for the printer, which I have cancelled. The subscription expired a week ago, and I have made the final payment for the subscription plan.)

When I try to remove the printer on the HP Smart website, the website shows me a prompt telling me to cancel the instant ink plan, even though the plan has already been cancelled.

My friend tried doing a factory reset on the printer to connect it to his own account, but says that he runs into an "account issue" and is not able to add the printer to his own account.

I reached out to a HP support agent through chat but was not able to resolve the issue. (I no longer have access to the printer, and I just need to remove it from my account.)

Is there another way to remove the printer from my account, or any additional steps I need to take? Thank you in advance for your help.

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If the instant ink subscription was cancelled recently, we suggest you please wait for few more days. After that, your friend can use the printer.

Note: Please replace the instant ink cartridges with the Original HP cartridges for your printer - Which cartridges work with my HP printer? | HP® Support
