Envy Photo 7155
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had the printer set up before. But, it stopped working on my laptop.

It's till working from my desktop and wife's laptop.

I did troubleshooting.

I did an uninstall of the printer and a complete reinstall.

I did youtube videos.

All I got working was the Scanner.

HP will not let me talk to Tech Support.

Welcome to the HP support community.

Did you uninstall the printer driver from the root level before installing the driver?

If not, follow the below steps:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver

I hope that helps.

Response to HP Support uninstalling and Removing old setup.

Result: Unsatisfactory

WIN 10
In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
+++There are no Programs and Features, just settings, devices, printers. Or, there is Apps & features. I Uninstalled HP7100 apps.
---Getting an error on uninstalling one of the apps:
Call to driver package uninstall returned error 5 for package.

Started uninstalling a device driver. Says another program in running and the mouse pointer is a spinning circle.Been going on 3 minutes +.
---I had to cancel HP ENVY Photo 7100 series Basic Device Software uninstall.

I tried to uninstall the 7100 help app and got the error that another program in being instialled.

Select Uninstall
+++There is no Uninstall, just a Remove Device Button
I removed the device.

I also have an HP Envy laptop, so I have many HP apps on the computer.
Have to be careful that I only affect ENVY 7100.

I had to End Task on the uninstall.

Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver.
+++ There is no HP Printer Driver.
---Only HP Delivery, HP Officejet 3830, and HP PCL3 A-size Printer Class Driver and 6 Microsoft drivers.

Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
+++There is no Apply and OK Just Apply.

I went in and got HP Smart and it told me I already had it. So I tried their steps and that didn't work either.

SUMMARY: UNSOLVED

I really could use someone to talk to so I can tell them what I see in each step.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.

Ok. I finally got the steps from HP in this thread to work

The only difference was that before I tried to root uninstall my driver(s), I turned my Printer Off.

The errors that I had gotten in the middle of uninstalling the driver(s) was the program is running on another device (paraphrased).

While I did get a message, it seemed to uninstall longer and  then I was able to go through some of the advice steps in a few replies and finally my laptop operated my printer. There were still screens that I was supposed to do something, but that something was not on the screen.

I hope this helps someone else.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
    • Only found Apps and Features
  • Select your HP printer.
    • On Apps and Features it was only the 7100 software and I uninstalled it.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
    • I found that and Removed the printer.
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
    • They only had one with the 7100 printer name, but I tried to uninstall it.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
    • They didn't have all instances. They had a named package. I accepted that, but got an error that the driver was in use. Then I just asked for the single printer driver and got the same error.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
    • There was no Apply.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again. I restarted ok.
  • Then with the Smart program I tried to get through it a couple of times. The 2nd time went all the way through.
  • Then, I could print plain paper ok, BUT not photo paper. Yes, I did select the photo tray. I watched as it activated the photo tray, moved it back and forth a few times and stopped, with tray empty. I re-positioned the tray 3 times, and hit OK 3 times and the last time worked.

This printer has been UNreliable for photo since I got it. This is both on my and my wife's laptop

I never fully got through all your steps.
