I successfully downloaded "LaserJet Series FW Update 20220729" but when I opened the .dmg file, received the message that “ because Apple cannot check it for malicious software." See the error message below:
As you see, the error message instructs me to "Contact the developer"... but as most HP Custromers are well aware, HP makes contact with them directly almost impossible.
Note that the MacOS listed in the psoe is "Monterrey" because that's probably the last MacOS that HO has heard about about. I am actually running Ventura 13.1 on a new Mac Studio.
Has anyone else run up aganst the problem and found a solution.

I was able to find an Apple support document that provided instructions for circumventing their extreme security measured. It is at :

Apply the workaround to the upgrade file:
