HP OfficeJet Pro

Hello I just bought my Office Jet Pro 9120 e series printer today. I’m trying to add it to my dashboard and it connected to hp smart. But it’s not on my hp dashboard and everything i tried to add it it says the serial number is wrong and I dont know what is going on. I looked on the box and in the settings and the same serial number is everywhere. But the hp website still does not recognize it. Please help.

Hi @sjsharksgirl86,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties with adding your HP OfficeJet Pro 9120 e-series printer to your HP dashboard. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Serial Number:

  • Make sure you are entering the serial number correctly. Check for typos and ensure there are no spaces before or after the serial number.

Verify Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the device you are using to access the HP Smart app or the HP dashboard.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. You can usually find firmware update options in the printer's settings menu.

Use the HP Smart App:

  • If you are encountering issues on the HP website, try using the HP Smart app (available for mobile devices and Windows 10). The app can often provide an alternative and more user-friendly method for adding and managing printers.

Clear Browser Cache:

  • If you are trying to add the printer through a web browser, try clearing your browser cache and then attempt the process again. Cached data can sometimes cause issues with web interfaces.

Manual Registration:

  • If all else fails, you may try manually registering the printer on the HP website. Look for an option to add a printer by entering the serial number directly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello, I own an 9015e and I cannot add the printer to the dashboard, says serial invalid but it is definitely correct. I took it from the device itself (label inside the printer).

I had to call hp technical support to find out that the system had not generated my serial number yet. They were able to fix it over the phone. I suggest you call.

On https://support.hp.com/de-de/add-device i got the following message when trying to add the printer to the dashboard:
Product needs to be linked with your HP All-in plan account to be able to add it to your dashboard.

What does it mean?

Best regards
