@Sean229, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer is still unable to scan even after a software update, here are a few steps to help resolve the issue:

Ensure Latest Software & Drivers Are Installed

Even if you've updated recently, it's best to manually confirm you're using the latest drivers:

Use HP Smart App or HP Scan Software

  • If you're using Windows or macOS, try scanning using the HP Smart App or HP Scan utility.
  • Download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store or Mac App Store. HP Smart

Check Scanner Connection

  • Make sure the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi.
  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure both devices are on the same network.

Reset the Printer

  • Power off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and restart.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Go to the printer's control panel:
Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer
  • Install any available firmware updates.

Reinstall the Printer

  • Remove the printer from your computer's devices list.
  • Reinstall it using the HP Smart App or the full driver package.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
