HI.

The new printer we have prints in colour from my iPhone, but only black and white from the MacBook Pro.

When I click print, and look at the presets, a colour option is not even mentioned.

Can anyone advise me at all please? Am stuck 🙂

Hi @JoeWillsDad

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP DeskJet 2800 All-in-One Printer series printer is printing in color from your iPhone but only in black and white from your MacBook Pro, it may be related to printer settings or driver issues.

Follow these steps to enable color printing from your MacBook Pro:

Check Printer Settings:

  • When you open a document to print, go to File > Print.
  • Click on the Show Details or Hide Details button to expand the print settings, if available.
  • Look for a section labeled Color Options, Quality, or Features. You want to ensure that the Color option is selected rather than Black & White or Grayscale.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Go to the HP Support website and search for Drivers and Software for your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest macOS drivers for your printer.

Remove and Re-Add the Printer:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer from the list, and click the - button to remove it.
  • Click the + button to add the printer back. Make sure you select the printer using AirPrint or HP-specific drivers if available.

Reset Printing System (if necessary):

  • In Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Control-click) anywhere in the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
  • This action will remove all printers and scanners. Re-add your HP printer afterward.

Check Print Presets:

  • If you have saved any print presets, ensure they are configured for color and not set to defaul to grayscale or black and white.

HP Smart App:

  • Consider using the HP Smart app for macOS. It provides better integration and control over HP printers and can simplify troubleshooting by guiding you through proper print settings configurations.

By carefully checking your printer settings and ensuring all drivers are current, you should be able to resolve the color printing issue on your MacBook Pro.
