2800e deskjet all in one

Recently purchased 2800e all in one after checking it could print on card stock. Now set up there is no option for card stock only plain, lightweight, glossy or photo paper.

How do I print on card stock without breaking my printer or having to buy another one?

Hi @Hayles20 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 2800e series can print on various media types, but certain paper types like cardstock might not always show as a selectable option in printer settings, depending on the thickness or weight of the cardstock you're using.

Here are some steps to help you print on cardstock without damaging your printer:

Check Paper Specifications:

  • The DeskJet 2800e series is designed for lightweight media, typically up to 200 gsm (grams per square meter). Standard cardstock falls between 200-300 gsm, so ensure your cardstock isn't too thick (aim for around 175-200 gsm to be safe).

Use the “Heavy Paper” or “Glossy” Setting:

  • In the print dialog on your computer, select either “Glossy” or “Photo Paper” (as they often adjust for thicker paper types). This should adjust the printer's settings to handle thicker media more effectively, allowing for slower feeding and better ink absorption.

Manual Feed (If Available):

  • Some models allow you to manually feed a single sheet through the main tray. This can reduce the risk of jams or feed errors with heavier paper.

Adjust Paper Tray:

  • Ensure the tray is adjusted snugly to the cardstock to help the printer pick it up smoothly.

Perform a Test Print:

  • Start by printing a small test page to check print quality and feeding. Avoid adding more than a few sheets of cardstock in the tray at once to prevent jams.

If the printer struggles to pick up the cardstock, consider using slightly thinner cardstock.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
