@A11trucker, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your alignment issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Officejet 100 printer is not aligning the cartridges in the slot or allowing you to change them, try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Check for Obstructions

  • Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams, dust, or debris blocking the cartridge carriage.
  • If you see anything stuck, carefully remove it.

2. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 2-3 minutes and then plug it back in.
  • Turn it on and check if the carriage moves properly.

3. Manually Move the Cartridge Carriage

  • Open the cartridge access door and try gently pushing the cartridge carriage from side to side.
  • If it is stuck, do not force it—move it gently.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Remove both cartridges from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord while the printer is still on.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Reinstall the cartridges and check if they align properly.

5. Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Take out the cartridges and gently wipe the copper contacts on them with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Let them dry before reinserting.

6. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • If the issue persists, ensure your printer firmware is up to date.
  • Go to HP’s official website and download the latest drivers for your HP Officejet 100.

Let me know if it helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
