My MFP M227fdw printer language suddenly changed from English to Thai language. This was preceded by it spitting out 20 or so pages with a line or 2 of odd computer characters. I assume it’s been infected via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. How can I fix this?

Hi @mlrsguy,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To change the language back to English on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw from Thai, follow these steps.
Access the Printer Control Panel:
- Make sure the printer is turned on and ready.
- On the home screen of the control panel, locate and press the Setup button (usually represented by a wrench or a gear icon).
Navigate to the Language Settings:
- Use the arrow buttons to navigate through the menu options.
- Find and select the System Setup menu option. In Thai, this might look similar to "การตั้งค่าระบบ".
- Within the System Setup menu, find and select the Language option. This could look like "ภาษา".
Select English:
- Scroll through the list of available languages and select English. In Thai, "ภาษาอังกฤษ" should represent English.
- Confirm your selection.
Reset the Printer if Necessary:
- If you have difficulty navigating the menu in Thai, you can perform a partial reset of the printer, which will reset all settings, including the language, to factory defaults.
- To do this, turn off the printer, then turn it back on while holding the Right Arrow button. Release the button when the display shows "Permanent Storage Init." or a similar message.
Update Firmware:
- To prevent any further issues, make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Download the latest firmware from the HP support website and follow the instructions to update your printer.
These steps should help you change the language back to English and secure your printer from potential issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
