Hi, my printer has just applied the latest firmware update automatically. Funnily enough after restart it won't pick up any of my virtually brand new toner cartridges showing an error screen with "supply error". Now the the printer simply won't work at all. I have taken cartridges out, cleaned contacts, tried restarting, resetting etc but to no avail. Given these toners cost circa £200 I am not going to buy new ones for what is undoubtedly due to HPs petty policy on non HP cartridges. Now my business is at a complete standstill when it was working fine before it updated. IS THERE ANY WAY OF ROLLING BACK THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE TO THE PREVIOUS VERISON AS FACTORY RESET DOESNT REVERT TO ORGINAL VERSION. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP BEFORE I CONSIGN THIS PRINTER TO THE BIN????

If your printer is really Color Laserjet Pro M254DW download the .exe file from https://www.ghost-white-toner.com/firmware-update-warning/ for your model.
Printer driver should be installed on your computer. When you start the .exe file it asks you to select printer to upgrade/ downgrade.
Please keep in mind your printer has to be with Allow Downgrade ENABLED !

The same problem here with Color LaserJet Pro M254nw, after upgrading firmware to latest version dating Oct 21, 2020. Need older firmware version to try downgrading firmware. Still no solution from companies producing chips for 3rd party compatible toner cartridges. No chip covering new firmware. Anyone who has older firmware ?
PS. Rainbow67 - Have you tried Super NVRAM initialization ?

Hi, I have tried the Super NVRAM initialization, but it still keeps the latest firmware, so problem persists. Cannot seem to find the firmware update from 12/06/2020. Did manage to find one dated 03/06/2020 but errored saying "incorrect firmware update failed". It appears the previous firmware version is nowhere to be seen and has been removed from site. Very unhelpful.
I did install a genuine HP black cartridge which it accepted, so this is obviously the issue. However, it still wont let me print unless I put another 3 HP toner cartridges in. Seems it wont
