Microsoft Windows 11

After full re-installation of my HP Pavillon Lapotot 16-ab0xxx including the re-installation of MS office, I miss the print color option in word and excel. It was present before re-installation.

I checked pilots (HP Envy 5544 printer) , windows and office last version, everything looks fine, which is not really the case.

Can you help me?

@jerome_s, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

(troubleshoot)It sounds like you're encountering an issue where the option to print in color is missing from MS Word and Excel after a system reinstallation. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

Check Printer Driver Installation

Sometimes, after reinstalling the system, the printer driver might not be installed correctly, or it could be an outdated version.

Uninstall and Reinstall Printer Drivers:

Open Device Manager by typing it into the search bar and pressing Enter.

Expand the Printers section and right-click on your HP Envy 5544 printer.

Select Uninstall device and follow the prompts.

Go to HP's official website and download the latest drivers for the HP Envy 5544.

Install the drivers and restart your computer.

Check for the Correct Printer Settings:

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Right-click on your HP Envy 5544 printer and select Printer Preferences.

Make sure the Color option is set to Color rather than Black & White.

Check Print Settings in MS Word and Excel

In both Word and Excel, you should be able to select color printing from the print options.

In MS Word/Excel:

Open Word/Excel and click on File > Print.

In the print settings, click on Printer Properties (this may appear as a link in the Print dialog box).

Look for a Color or Color Options tab and ensure it's set to Color.

If the printer preferences are set to "Black and White" by default, you may need to change that within the software.

Check Office Settings

Open Word or Excel.

Click File > Options.

Go to Advanced, scroll down to the Print section, and ensure that the Print in color option is selected.

Set Printer Default to Color

Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Right-click on your printer (HP Envy 5544) and select Printing Preferences.

Under the Color or Quality tab, select Color.

Click Apply and OK.

Test Print from Other Apps

Try printing a test document from another application, such as Notepad or a web browser, to see if the issue is specific to Word/Excel or if it's a system-wide issue.

Reinstall Microsoft Office

If all else fails, consider reinstalling Microsoft Office. The reinstallation might fix any settings or corruption in Office's print preferences.

Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.

Find Microsoft Office in the list and uninstall it.

Afterward, reinstall Microsoft Office from the Microsoft website or use the Office 365 app.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
