HP Smart Tank 5102 All-in-One Printer

Every day, I have to reset the printer by unplugging it and plugging it back in. The rest of the day, it’s fine.  Then the next morning, same routine.  Someone help!

Hi @Allenpov, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 5102 is encountering an intermittent issue that requires a reset each time.
Here are a few things you can try to resolve the problem:

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Sometimes, these issues can be resolved with a firmware update. You can update the firmware via the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website and searching for your printer model.

Check Power Supply:

  • Ensure the power cord and adapter are in good condition. A faulty power supply might cause the printer to need a reset each day.

Disable Auto-Sleep Mode:

  • The printer may be going into a deep sleep mode overnight, causing the issue when it's waking up. You can try disabling or adjusting the sleep settings via the printer's menu.

Reset Printer Settings:

  • Performing a reset on the printer might help. To do this:
    • From the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
    • This will reset the printer's settings to factory defaults, which could eliminate any issues related to misconfiguration.

Reinstall Drivers:

  • Corrupt or outdated drivers could cause connectivity problems. Uninstall and reinstall the drivers via the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Check Network Connection:

  • If the printer is connected to Wi-Fi, ensure that the connection is stable. A poor connection can sometimes cause issues with power-ups.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
