My computer is being worken up by the following at 11.40am every day.

NT TASK\HP\HP Print Scan Doctor\Printer Health Monitor

I have read multiple forums online about it. HP must be aware of this and they have to do something to fix it. When my computer is asleep I want it to stay asleep until I wake it. I don't want to return home to find it's been on the whole time because it was checking a printer.

So please HP can you sort this problem out. Please don't advise me to uninstall and reinstall the software. It keeps coming back.

Hi @Prehuman,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It’s frustrating when scheduled tasks wake your computer from sleep, especially if you don’t want that behavior. The HP Print Scan Doctor task you're seeing is indeed a scheduled task created by HP software to monitor your printer's status. Here’s how you can address this issue without uninstalling the software:

1. Disable the Scheduled Task

You can disable the scheduled task that wakes your computer:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type taskschd.msc and press Enter.
  • In Task Scheduler, navigate to Task Scheduler Library on the left pane.
  • Look for a folder related to HP tasks. It might be named something like HP or HP Print Scan Doctor.
  • Look for a task named HP Print Scan Doctor or similar. You might see multiple tasks, so look for one related to the Printer Health Monitor.
  • Right-click the task and select Disable.
  • This will prevent the task from running automatically and potentially waking your computer.

2. Modify the Task to Prevent Waking the Computer

If you prefer not to disable the task completely, you can adjust its settings so it doesn’t wake your computer:

  • Follow the steps above to locate the task in Task Scheduler.
  • Right-click the task and select Properties.
  • Go to the Conditions tab.
  • Uncheck the option that says Wake the computer to run this task.
  • Click OK to save the changes.

3. Check Power Settings

Ensure that your power settings are not configured to allow programs to wake the computer:

  • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
  • Click on Change plan settings next to your selected power plan.
  • Click on Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand the Sleep section and make sure that settings related to allowing wake timers are set to Disable.
  • Click Apply, then OK to save the settings.

4. Update or Reconfigure HP Software

Sometimes, updating or reconfiguring HP software can help:

  • Visit HP’s website or use HP Support Assistant to check if there’s an update available for your HP Print Scan Doctor software.
  • Open the HP software and look for settings related to scheduling or notifications. Adjust them to minimize impact on your sleep settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
