HP DESKJET 2540
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone.

My housemate left me a printer here when he moved out: HP DESKJET 2540

Unfortunately, there were no documents or cables with it, except for the power cable. I have bought new ink and it seems to be able to copy stuff.

Now I've been trying to install the drivers on my laptop so that I can print off important  documents. Thanks to trouble shooters I have managed to do that, however, it doesn't seem to find the printer and is therefore asking for a USB connection to find it and I think to connect the printer to WIFI.

Now I was wondering if there was any way to get around the USB connection, as I don't want to buy a cable just so that I can install it and never use that cable again.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks a lot!
