Hi @TTG2468 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to connect your HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One printer to your iPhone hotspot, please follow these steps carefully:
1. Verify Your Hotspot Settings
- Ensure your iPhone hotspot is on and working properly. Check if your iPhone is connected to the internet and sharing that connection.
- Confirm that your hotspot settings (SSID, password) are correct and simple (avoid using special characters). If needed, reset the hotspot.
2. Ensure Your Printer Supports Wi-Fi Direct
- The HP ENVY 6455e should support wireless connectivity like Wi-Fi Direct, which allows devices to connect directly to the printer without needing a traditional Wi-Fi router. Make sure the printer is in Wi-Fi Direct mode by enabling it on the printer's control panel or settings menu.
3. Set Printer to Connect to Hotspot
- Using the printer’s control panel:
- Go to the Wi-Fi setup menu.
- Choose Wi-Fi Direct or Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Select your iPhone’s hotspot from the list of available networks.
- Enter your hotspot password when prompted.
4. Connect the iPhone to Printer via HP Smart App
- Install the HP Smart app on your iPhone if you haven’t already. Ensure your iPhone is connected to the same hotspot network.
- Open the HP Smart app and tap on Add Printer.
- The app should detect the printer once the hotspot connection is established.
- Follow the app’s instructions to complete the connection.
5. Manually Add Printer in Settings
- If the HP Smart app doesn’t detect the printer, you can manually add the printer through the iPhone’s Wi-Fi settings:
- Go to Settings > Wi-Fi on your iPhone.
- Look for your printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network (it may look like “HP-Print-” followed by numbers).
- Connect to this network, and then open the HP Smart app or the AirPrint option to print directly.
6. Troubleshooting
- Restart all devices: Restart the printer, iPhone, and your hotspot feature.
- Forget and reconnect the hotspot: Go to your iPhone’s Wi-Fi settings and "forget" the printer's network, then reconnect.
- Update firmware and app: Ensure that the printer’s firmware and the HP Smart app are up to date. Sometimes connection issues can be fixed with updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
