Hi @BDW9292,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Connecting an HP Envy 6000e printer to a Windows XP computer may be challenging due to compatibility issues. Here are the general steps you can try.

Driver Compatibility: Ensure that the printer has drivers available for Windows XP. Most modern printers, including the HP Envy 6000 series, might not have official drivers for Windows XP, as XP is quite outdated and not supported by many new devices.

Manual Installation: If drivers are not available, you can try manually installing the printer using the Add Printer Wizard in XP:

  • Go to Start > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes (or Printers and Other Hardware > Printers and Faxes).
  • Click on "Add a printer" on the left sidebar.
  • Follow the wizard's instructions to manually install the printer.

Network Connection: If the printer supports wireless or Ethernet connectivity, you can connect it to your network and then try adding it as a network printer on your XP computer. This might require network configuration and ensuring XP can communicate with the printer.

USB Connection: If your printer supports USB, you can try connecting it directly to the XP computer via USB. Again, you might need to manually install the printer using the Add Printer Wizard if automatic detection and installation do not work.

Compatibility Mode: In some cases, you may need to run the installation software for the printer in compatibility mode:

  • Right-click on the installation file or setup executable.
  • Select Properties > Compatibility tab.
  • Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select an older version of Windows (like Windows XP).
  • Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Check HP Support: Visit the HP support website for the Envy 6000e series and search for any specific instructions or drivers that might be available for Windows XP.

If none of these steps work, it may indicate that the HP Envy 6000e printer is not compatible with Windows XP, and you may need to consider upgrading your computer's operating system to a newer version that is supported by the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
