I am trying to set up my printer as it somehow got removed from my HP Smart app. I used to be able to print from this printer but I went on vacation and my HP Smart app no longer recognizes the printer. I am trying to go through the stages of setting it up again but when I get to the screen that asks me to select my Wi-Fi, my Wi-Fi is not on the list. I moved my printer to be right next to my router and my network still does not show on the list of available WiFi networks. I've tried doing this multiple times but it does not work.

Hi @BNutt88,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To troubleshoot and set up your HP DeskJet 2636 All-In-One Printer again, follow these steps.
Preliminary Steps:
Restart the Printer and Router:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Turn off your router and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug in and turn on the router.
- Plug in and turn on the printer.
Reset Network Settings on the Printer:
- Turn on the printer.
- Press and hold the Wireless button (located on the left side of the control panel) and the Cancel button together for 3 seconds.
- This will reset the network settings on your printer.
Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi:
Using the HP Smart App:
- Ensure your mobile device or computer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
- Open the HP Smart app. If you don't have it installed, download and install it from the HP Smart app page.
- Click on the "+" icon to add a new printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer. When it asks for the Wi-Fi network, it should now display your network.
Using WPS Push Button:
- Make sure your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) and has the WPS button available.
- Press the WPS button on your router.
- Within 2 minutes, press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the Wireless light starts blinking. The printer should connect to your network automatically.

Verify Connection:
- Print a Wireless Network Test Report:
- Press the Information button on your printer to print a report.
- Check the report to ensure that the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
Additional Troubleshooting:
Check Wi-Fi Network Compatibility:
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network is set to 2.4 GHz, as many HP printers do not support 5 GHz networks.
- If your network is set to 5 GHz, switch it to 2.4 GHz or enable both bands on your router.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Sometimes, updating the printer firmware can resolve connectivity issues.
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page, enter your printer model, and download any available firmware updates.
Reinstall HP Smart App:
- Uninstall the HP Smart app from your device.
- Restart your device and reinstall the HP Smart app.
If you have followed all these steps and still cannot connect your printer to the Wi-Fi network, there might be an issue with the printer's network hardware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
