How do I permanently disable firmware updates? I allow printers to fail an update up to 2 times and then updates get disabled.

Hi @Consultant1106,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you want to permanently disable firmware updates on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e All-in-One Printer, as the updates are failing. While HP strongly recommends keeping firmware updates enabled for security and performance, you can manually turn off automatic updates through the printer's settings.

1: From the Printer Control Panel

  1. On the printer's touchscreen, swipe down to open the dashboard.
  2. Tap the Settings (gear icon).
  3. Scroll down and select Printer Maintenance or Web Services Setup.
  4. Tap Product Update or Printer Update Options.
  5. Choose Do Not Check for Updates or Off.

This disables automatic firmware updates directly from the printer interface

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
