Welcome to our HP Community forum!
A custom password simply means a password that is created by the user (you, in other words), rather than one that is automatically generated or pre-assigned by HP or the system.
In HP printer setup context, a custom password is often used for:
Printer Embedded Web Server (EWS) access
Administrator or security settings
Wi-Fi or network configuration
HP Smart / setup security prompts
Key points:
You choose the password yourself.
It must meet any stated requirements (minimum length, letters, numbers, symbols, etc.).
It is different from default passwords like "admin" or a factory-set PIN.
If forgotten, recovery usually requires a reset of the printer or settings.
In short: "Custom password" means "a password you make and set yourself."
I can respond more precisely if you provide me with the exact HP printer model or setup screen you are referring to.
Kind Regards,
