I had an issue with my HP Printer not scanning. I contacted the HP Support Chat. Explained the issue and she said she would direct my call and they would call me. They did call. The issue was ultimately resolved . They did advise that I purchase Avast Premium Security to correct the issues. They needed to remove malware and reload printer drivers etc.
My primary question is whether this company that helped, Cyber Help Tech Solutions is legit and are they an authorized service representative of HP??. I had a similar issue 6 months ago. Contacted HP and was scammed instead.
An attempt to contact HP directly with an email address was unsuccessful.

This does not really answer the question. I need to know from someone at HP if Cyber Help Tech Solutions is an authorized vendor hired to resolve issues. A chat on the HP website resulted in this company calling me. They helped but the whole process is quite unnerving. I was the victim of a remote access scam last fall initiated by my calling HP. It appears their number was spoofed. Really makes me reconsider buying HP products ever again.

3/24/24 This just happened to me as well. Chat asks for my phone number, I get a call within minutes. I assume I'm being called by HP, but I learn later that it's Cyber Help Tech Solutions, based in Arizona. I agree to screen share, I guess stupidly, then I'm told malware must be removed, etc. Some maintenance/protection product is mentioned. I decline. Only when I called back did I realize I had not been talking to HP. What's going on?

Thank you for your response. However how can I or anyone trust a review on Google? How are we assured it is legitimate?
The only party that can respond to this inquiry is HP and they aren't responding. I have asked aside from this post as well.
Last November I had called HP at the number provided on their website and got scammed out of $2000. Someone other than HP answered the phone and I fell for the scam. Fortunately my CC recovered the money. HP is investigating this case.
Then in February I logon to HP Chat and am told someone will call me. They did and it was Cyber Help Tech Solutions.
When I call HP or go on an online chat with HP I expect that it is HP on the other end. Or someone needs to tell me that the
are authorized to act on HP's behalf. I let HP know about this incident as well.
I wish HP would respond.

@JAV53and others reading...
HP Support does not free-post HP Support phone numbers on the Internet.
Write this on a large yellow piece of paper and post it all over your work area.
HP does not care what kind of anti-virus software you are running -- or even if you not running anything.
HP does not tell you your computer is full of bugs.
Printer support does not include someone sneaking into your computer.
Read that line at least twice...
Dragon Comments
Sneaky tactics from scammers are legendary -- HP and other legitimate companies are aware of these scoundrels --
The "good guys" do not control the Internet.
We are learning how to protect ourselves from criminals that break into our houses, harm our families, and sneak around our neighborhoods.
The Internet is not a tangible source of trouble -- some people still trust that things are safe.
The ways to get scammed outnumber all the legitimate ways to get help of any kind for any subject.
If there is a way to take your money, your trust, your identity, or your sanity, a scammer will find a way to take advantage.
As to trusting reviews found in Google or other search engines?
Sure, maybe blind trust is warranted if you are buying a shirt and the shirt is sold at a legitimate company.
And, you don't need the shirt -- and the shirt doesn't cost more than you make in a week.
Reviews are only as trustworthy as the source.
Google and other search engine services are not the Internet Police.
HP and other legitimate manufacturers are not the Internet Police.
There are no Internet Police.

Simple as this:
If I contact HP re an issue, instead of a third party, I expect I will be dealing with HP. If I'm our of warranty, fine. Charge me. But I should know whom I am dealing with. If HP is out-sourcing these inquires, that's fine too. But I should be informed of that by HP. To whom am I being referred?
04-23-2024 01:56 PM
Yeah, I am sorry it doesn't work that way.
It would be easier if you could trust what you find.
If you are out of Warranty, and you go looking for help on the 'net, you are not talking to HP Support.
There is no point in my comments beyond trying to increase awareness of the dangers.
Good Luck.

I spent some time with a warranty issue and had another HP printer sent followed by a laser cartridge and then hours troubleshooting. The tech said he was with Cyber Help Tech Solutions and they said to call HP.
When I called HP the tech sounded confused. So what is the connection and how did I get connected?
