DO I need a mobile phone to be able to sign up for HP+

Thinking of buying HP Deskjet 2710e for my elderly parents. They do not have a mobile phone. Description of set-up/HP+ has lots of references to mobile phone. Will they be able to set-up printer and sign-up for HP+ without a mobile phone?

Setup and Use:

This little printer lacks a printer display panel - your parents will have to decipher that the printer is telling them using the blinking lights and signals generated by the few buttons on the printer.  While it is certainly possible to communicate with the device, the methods used might not be as familiar for those not used to a printer of this type.

It is not required that your parents have a cell phone to use the printer.

The printer in question (2710e) does have a screen so I'm not sure that we are talking about the same printer?

My key question anyhow was whether they need a mobile phone for set-up - you say you don't believe that is necessary but that is still a step short of me being able to be certain so I guess I'll have to try to call HP unless someone else on the forum can help?

You do not need a cell phone - you do need to download and install the HP Smart application.

For Windows, the application is available in the Microsoft Store

Yes,  Contact the HP Store before purchase and ask for an assist.

The full driver provides support and access to the printing features and support for printing from Office Software and other programs.

You do not need the cell phone to install the software.

Do make sure the printer is turned on so it can be connected to the network.
