I am having trouble downloading the HP software for my printer - the "complete" download on the HP website.
When I download, it goes through most of the process, but when it gets to the actual setup for the printer, I receive an error message that states "Unsuccessful Network Insntallation" (see picture one).
I have run the troubleshooter given to me by HP - and still receive the above error.
This is the facts of the printer and/or the computer:
- The printer is connected to the wireless router with the correct credentials - and is confirmed
- The computer is connected to the wireless router with the correct credentials - and is confirmed
- Something is preventing the computer and printer communicating in the setup and download - and - I noticed at one time somewhere something was said about "Unknown Printer."
Now, when I go into the Windows side of things - using the control panel's "Add a Printer", I can download the printer and am able to print just fine. However, using this setup has two possible printers available; mine and a printer that I have never owned or used (see picture 2)..... After downloading the printer using the Windows control panel, the "dashboard" does not work, the scan to computer does not work, and the fax machine icon is not active on the "printers" screen of the control panel. {I have not, as of yet, tried to fax something - so I do not know if the fax is working.}
PICTURE 1
PICTURE 2I would like to get my printer up and running like it used to. Any help? Any suggestions? Please?
Thank you......

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out!
As I understand the printer installation isn't going through,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Did you reinstall the drivers/software from root level to avoid the issue?
Have you considered using the Windows built-in drivers?
While you respond to that, here's what I recommend you do:
Step 1: Restart the computer, printer, and router
Restart the computer, printer, and router to resolve any connectivity error states.
NOTE:
The following steps temporarily disconnect network and Internet connections, and require restarting your computer. Complete any tasks or downloads in progress before continuing.
-
Turn off the router by pressing the power button or disconnecting the power cord.
-
Turn off the printer, and then unplug any USB or Ethernet cables.
NOTE:
When a USB or Ethernet cable is connected to the printer, the printer cannot connect wirelessly.
-
Close all running programs on your computer, and then shut down the computer.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the router, and then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.
-
Turn on the printer.
-
Turn on the computer, and then continue to the next step.

If the issue persists, after you've completed all the steps suggested on the steps from the above link,
I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.
If the issue persists, please go ahead and install the windows built-in drivers:
If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.
NOTE:
Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.
See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.

Thank you for your help and response.
I have tried everything you suggested, but for some reason, I am still unable to download the "full" download off the HP website.
However, HPSmart has appeared and I am able to get to 'Scan to Computer' functions through HPSmart. So, as of now, I am good to go - but I wish I had full control through the download like I used to.
I'm not sure what happened, but with HPSmart, I am good to go for now.
Thank you so much for helping.
