1. I have a new HP LaserJet MFP M426fdn.
2. I have set this printer up as a network printer.
3. I went to the printer's interface via browser, using its IP address.
4. In this interface, I set a password. I actually copy and pasted the password into the password field.
5. When I attempt to get back to this interface, not only does it ask for a password, it ALSO asks for a USER NAME.
6. I did not choose a user name when I entered the password. I tried entering "Admin" as the user name and I've also tried leaving the user name field blank but it will not accept either of these combinations.
QUESTIONS: What is the 'DEFAULT ADMIN USER NAME' for the HP LaserJet MFP M426fdn printer?

Hi,
The default password should be "admin" (all lower case), as was listed within the password configuration page at the printer homepage (EWS).

I have the same issue with an M477 Color Laserjet printer. Never set a username but set a password on the printer. admin does not get me in... with the password I set on the printer. Tried root, Admin and several others and they don't work.
Did anyone solve this?

ALL HP Laserjet printers use "admin" as the default username and until recently you could not even change it. That said I have had cases where a password as set but did not work afterwards and a factory reset is the only solution.
