Hi, Have a brand new HP Color Laser 150.
Have set up to work on WiFi with two laptops and a PC (connected to home router). The printer is on WiFi on
Installed Easy Print Manager, can get to the EWS page (can also browse to this on 192.168.1.45), but cannot login to the admin page.
Have tried "admin" with blank password, "admin" with "admin" as password, read many articles, and still no joy.
This posting looked good:
ews admin password reset HP color laser 150nw - HP Support Community - 8856417
But cannot update or chk the firmware as I can't reach the admin page. All more than a bit frustrating.
Is it meant to be this hard? Please advise, thanks in anticipation...

Hi @pappabravo,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Ah, the classic game of “Guess the Admin Password”, a challenge no one signed up for! It’s frustrating when a brand-new printer decides to gatekeep its own settings like some kind of top-secret mission. But don’t worry, we’ll crack this digital vault and get you back in control.
Check Printer Label or Manual
- Some models have default login credentials printed on a sticker (back or bottom of the printer).
Reset Printer to Factory Settings
(This will remove any saved passwords)
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Press and hold Cancel and Wi-Fi buttons.
- While holding, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Release the buttons when the printer restarts.
Reset Network Settings (If Needed)
- On the printer Control Panel, navigate to Network → Restore Network Settings.
- Reconnect the printer to WiFi and try logging in again.
After resetting, try accessing the Embedded Web Server (EWS) again using 192.168.x.x. 🚀
Printers should print, not play hard to get! Follow these steps, and let me know how it goes. We’ll have you back in the admin seat in no time. 🚀🔐
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
