Hi everyone
A few weeks ago I installed my printer's driver using an alternate location (the location was D:\HP), it was working just fine. Recently I changed my D unit for an SSD drive which I only use for games so I tried installing the same driver (double clicking the driver installer) on my C drive but to my surprise it doesn't allow me to change the install path.
I don't know why now it doesn't let me when just a few weeks ago I remember changing it from some location in C to D drive.
The path the installer shows me is "D:\HP" (the one I write down the first time). Maybe this settings keep recorded in some place in the computer but I don't know exactly where. I've tried deleting the driver installer .exe and downloading it again but somehow keeps remembering the changes I made.
How can I run the installer to show me the default settings? Is there any way?
Does not allow me to make changes
this is the screen where you can "customize" the install

Welcome to the HP Community
I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Then, I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:
Remove the USB if connected
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-j4680-all-in-one-printer/369... to download and install the HP Officejet J4680/J4680c All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Driver.
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Thanks for your answer Raj.
I didn't follow the first steps about the printer... yet.
I did follow the next twelve steps about deleting the driver, I'm gonna try and tell how well this did go:
1) Programs and features opens "apps and features" searched for anything with hp in it with no results (which is good, I think)
2) Devices and printers opens "Printers & scanners" the printer does not appear listed here neither.
3) When I ran the printui.exe /s (and went to the "Drivers" tab) I did found the printer listed here (at this point I was so happy because I thought deleting this would allow me to reinstall the driver in the default C:\ location) deleted the driver as you said.
The next step was to download de driver, again, following the link you paste. (Before downloading it I restarted the pc) Did it, try it. But it keeps me from changing the default install path which is no more the default path is the one I changed a month ago and now the installer thinks it is the default and will not let me make changes there.
¿How can I change the installation path?
¿Why it doesn't let me change it?

To change the Path click on Install software to D:\HP as shown in the below image.
Then, click on change to select the Path as desired.
Click on OK and follow the on-screen instruction to install the printer driver.

Raj Sir
When I click on Install software to D:\HP I get this screen: There is no "change" button
I know the standard procedure to change installation path, the problem is (as I said in the first post) it does not allow me to change it.
Thank you for your quick answers Mr Raj. I really appreciate it. Hope we get to the solution of this.

Let's create a local user or administrator account in Windows
And then try to install the printer driver and check if you are facing the same issue.
Use this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026923/windows-10-create-a-local-user-or-administrator-acc... for creating a local user or administrator account in Windows
Keep me posted!

I created a new user (without microsoft account).
Go through the welcome screens
Searched for the driver in microsoft edge
Download it
Run it
*Was keeping my hopes up here*
It keeps recommending D:\ and does not allow me to change the location.
I found some log files the installer creates in C:\ , the files are:
C:\ProgramData\hpzinstall.log
C:\ProgramData\HP\Installer\Temp\(here creates 11 log files)
I thought deleting this files would allow me to run the installer with default settings but it was a fail.
I deleted the files, restart pc, ran the installer and I keep facing the same issue.
Thinking it better I realize it was a dumb idea because after all they are just .log files.
I've tried running the installer from one D:\ location and then from a C:\ location with the same results.
I've deleted all the content in my TEMP folder and re-run the installer, this didn't work neither.
I'm running out of ideas to run that installer with default settings.
