I have. a Deskjet 2652. And seen this issue with no real support from HP. But when trying to configure network and web server settings everything is locked click on it. Then ask for custom password. I never set one or anything on tag on computer on serial number and firmware factory reset it. Still same **bleep**.
I have been messing with this for to damnn long. I'm sorry it's a racket in my opinion. That you spend all that money to buy something that is now yours. And have the addasity to put a custom password on your now property to lock you out. And can't really talk to anyone. Hp assistant is garbage AI **bleep**. Put everything in as you would serial numbe ftr and all and issue. Then comes back saying is this what you need. Like ink and all that or to rephrase. You all need to get this in order. You make the product take our money and limit us on it. Go crazy trying to find a solution when in reality it wouldn't be hp if it wasn't for all of us they wouldn't be sitting high on the money.
So what I'm looking for is the answer on how to unlock this piece of crap so I can use it as intended.
Totally wrong for 4 you to withhold all settings

I’m here to help you troubleshoot your issue and get things back on track. Just follow these steps below, and we’ll have you running smoothly in no time:
Factory Reset Again (Different Method)
- Turn off the printer.
- Hold “Cancel” (X button) + Wireless button together.
- Turn the printer on while still holding the buttons.
- Release the buttons after 10 seconds.
Access Embedded Web Server (EWS)
- Connect printer to your PC via USB (or try direct Wi-Fi if USB isn’t available).
- Open a web browser and type the IP Address.
- If it asks for a password, try:
- admin
- Serial Number (uppercase, no spaces)
- "12345678" or "00000000" (sometimes default passwords)
Use HP Print & Scan Doctor to Reset Password
- Download HP Print & Scan Doctor on a PC.
- Run it and select your printer.
- Go to "Printer Reports" → "Network Configuration Page" and look for “Admin Password” details.
Try Default Admin Credentials for Locked Settings
- Open HP Smart app → Find Advanced Settings
- Try:
- Username: admin
- Password: Serial Number (caps, no spaces)
