HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer

My printer has been working on wifi happily for 18 months, but yesterday lost wifi connection.

 

I went through the usual steps to reconnect, but it kept failing. I reset the wifi connection at the router, and then at the printer, then used HP Smart to reconnect to the printer, but when I do this, my laptop can see the printer, asks for the wifi password, it then finds the printer, but I then get an error message telling me 'Cannot connect the printer to Wi-Fi. Connecting to your printer is taking longer than expected. Now, literally everything is flashing on the small screen and the orange and blue lights.

 

Is this printer dead now? I am out of warranty by 9 months so I guess my only option is to replace the printer with a new one.

 

Any advice/ideas out there? Hoping so.
