Hello and thanks for your return,
I apologize for the delay in responding.
You can skip the registry editor step and go to the next step:
NOTE: If the file refuses this action do as follows:
- On the keyboard, tap the Windows and X keys simultaneously.
- Click Windows PowerShell (admin) or Command Prompt (admin), and click Yes.
- Type net stop spooler, then press Enter key.
- Rename the folder 3 in 3_old in the path below (a restart may be required):
- C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64.
- C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\W32X86.
- Type net start spooler, then press Enter key.
- Reinstall the printer with the HP DeskJet 2700 series Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers.
- Try to print and scan.
N'hésitez pas à nous solliciter en cas de besoin.
Best regards,

Thank you for continuing to try to help. I have successfully renamed the "3" folder to "3_old" in the W32X86 folder, but I cannot rename it in the x64 folder, even with the spooler stopped.
When I try, this happens;
- "You'll need to provide administrator permission to rename this folder"
- "Continue"
- "Do you want to allow this app (File Operation) to make changes to your device?"
- "Yes"
- "This action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program. Close the folder or file and try again".

Thanks for your return,
Try the following:
- It is possible that your printer is still in Devices and Printers.
- Disconnect the printer's USB cable from the computer's USB port.
- On the keyboard, simultaneously tap the Windows flag and the R key. The Run window opens.
- Type control printers, then press OK key. The Devices and Printers window opens.
- Right-click on your HP DeskJet 2700 series printer, then click on Remove device, and then on Yes.
- Type net start spooler, then press Enter key.
- Reinstall the printer with the HP DeskJet 2700 series Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers.
NOTE: Be sure to connect the printer's USB cable to the computer's USB port only when the installation program prompts you to do so.
- Try to print and scan.

In this case, go to the installation of your printer with the Full Software and Drivers proposed in my previous message.
Cheers,

No, it is still not working after installing the Full Software and Drivers proposed. I went through the WHOLE process and still nothing. I have now wasted several hours trying to fix this problem. I appreciate your help, but when will HP step in and resolve this? At this point, I would like it fixed by HP or a refund on the product bought.
Now, I have 'HP50842D (HP Deskjet 2700 series)' and 'DIRECT-2D-HP Deskjet 2700 series' in Devices and Printers. Both of their statuses is 'Driver is unavailable'.
The printer even printed a 'Wi-Fi Direct PIN' page, enabling me to link up the printer with my Wi-Fi, so I thought it was going to work, but no, it doesn't.
Can't somebody connect to my machine and remotely resolve this problem?

Hello,
The printer may be attempting a connection with Wi-Fi Direct.
The password for the Wi-Fi Direct is 12345678 by default. To learn more, go to Print with Wi-Fi Direct.
Don't hesitate to contact us in case of need.

Maybe it is attempting a connection with Wi-Fi Direct; I don't know. I have no issue entering the password with Wi-Fi direct. It pairs/connects without issue. But it won't print anything.
Whether it is or it isn't attempting a connection with Wi-Fi Direct, I should be able to print. And why does it say "driver unavailable"?
The webpage you linked to says "If a Driver is unavailable status message displays, go to 123.hp.com to download and install the print driver." But we've already tried that?!
This matter has existed for nearly two months. Why haven't HP attempted to help? Somebody should be prepared to have a telephone or video conversation with me to resolve this. I am a school teacher and I have no way of printing!!!
