Deskjet 2820e
Ubuntu LTS

Hello dear community.

Can anyone tell me if the HP Deskjet 2820e printer works with HPLIP under Linux or if it belongs to the HP DeskJet 2800 All-in-One Printer series? I would like to buy it and use it under Linux with hplip. Unfortunately, the Deskjet 2820e isn't currently on the list of supported devices for hplip, but devices from the DeskJet 2800 All-in-One Printer series are. So, will it work with hplip under Linux?

Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to select "Printer" and, for example, "Setup, Software and Drivers" in the board selector. The selection isn't applied, neither with Firefox nor with Google Chrome.

@Udini, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP DeskJet 2820e and HPLIP Compatibility!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The HP DeskJet 2820e is part of the HP DeskJet 2800 All-in-One Printer series. Generally, printers from this series are supported by HPLIP (Hewlett-Packard Linux Imaging & Printing), which is the HP-developed solution for printing on Linux. HPLIP supports a wide range of HP printers, including many from the DeskJet series, for tasks like printing, scanning, and faxing.

However, if the HP DeskJet 2820e specifically is not listed on the official HPLIP supported devices list, it is possible that support for this exact model has not been explicitly tested or confirmed. In such cases, it might still work, as many printers share common software frameworks and driver support within the same series. You could potentially try installing HPLIP and checking its recognition of your device.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
