I have been recently having issue with my Deskjet 3545 printer drivers, i am on a windows 10 machine.
Here is how my driver looks in "Devices and Printers":
1. When installed from "Printers and Scanners" from Windows 10 settings:
2. When installed manually by "Add a printer using TCP/IP Hostname" and "My printer is old, help me find it" in Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers
______________________________________________________________________________
Printer Details as shown by "HP Smart" app for Windows 10:
______________________________________________________________________________
ISSUE: Can not print anything, sometimes stuck in print queue, sometimes it goes to queue and disappears suddenly, sometimes throws an "ERROR-PRINTING" (no error message) [ In both above drivers, printing doesn't work ]
______________________________________________________________________________
NOTE:
1. Printer works perfectly with my other Laptops (windows 10, same version) and with my android too, this issue is specific to my current pc.
2. I have "Set Windows Update to automatically download driver software" ON
3. Throughout my troubleshooting i have been installing Drivers from : HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3540 e-All-in-One Printer series Drivers
______________________________________________________________________________
WHAT WORKS:
1. INTERNAL PAGE PRINT WORKS (HP Print and Scan Doctor) [Uninstalling then Reinstalling Driver didn't work, already tried that]
2. Scanning using Built in Windows 10 Scanner:
3. Printing REPORTS ONLY through "HP Smart" Windows 10 app:
Again, I can't print Documents/ Photos using the Hp Smart app.
______________________________________________________________________________
THINGS I HAVE TRIED [AND DID NOT WORK]:
1. Rename W32X86 to W32x86.old and Rename x64 to x64.old
2. Adding Printer Manually using "Install the printer driver with the Add Printer wizard":
2.a) Add a printer using local or network printer with manual settings
2.b) Selecting Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname
2.c) My Printer is old, help me find it
3. Checked for Windows 10 currupted system Files (no problems were ever found)
3.a) sfc /scannow : No issues found
3.b) DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth : No issues found
4. Uninstalled Antivirus, Disabled all Firewalls
5. Used "HP Print and Scan Doctor", Told me to Uninstall and Install Drivers again, Did that, Still no prints.
6. Installed "HP Universal Print Driver for Windows" and selected "Print directly to Printer"
7. Clean Uninstall then reinstall Hp Drivers for my Printer (Both basic and full) -> but have always gotten stuck here:
THINGS I CAN NOT TRY:
1. Reinstall Windows (pls no :(( )
2. Use the printer cable to print (Lost it :(( )
______________________________________________________________________________
I have been struggling with this for days, Any help would be highly appreciated!

Good day. Thank you for visiting the HP community. I have reviewed the case. I will be delighted to assist you and also noticed that you've reached out for the first time. I saw the screenshots and your troubleshooting prowess coupled with an immense attention to detail to get to the bottom of things. Kudos to you for that. Looks like a tough but to crack. But we will work as a team to figure things out here.
- Did you try to install the printer on a new user account?
Let's try these steps here:
- Perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-ink-tank-wireless-410-series/16180953/model/16180954/documen... perform steps from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer
- Then update the printer’s firmware by following instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c02919168
- Use a USB cable to update the printer’s firmware connecting it to a computer.
Then uninstall and reinstall the printer software at the root level by following these steps:
- Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
- Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
- Go to devices and printers, in the control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
- Click on print server properties.
- You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
- Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
- Restart the PC.
- Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
- Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
- It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
- If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
- Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
- Restart the PC again.
Then create a new local user account as an administrator from this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/instantanswers/5de907f1-f8ba-4fd9-a89d-efd23fee918c/create-a-loc...
Log into the new user account after restarting your computer.
Then download the latest full feature driver from https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-deskjet-ink-advantage-3540-e-all-in-on...
and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
This should fix the issue.
Then assign a manual IP address and Google DNS to the printer by following these steps:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to the "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says, “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says, “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
- Restart the printer and then router once done.
The trick is to remain patient here.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

Hey! Thanks for your reply @DavidSMP !
Indeed it looks like a tough one, but i am confident its nothing we HP Community can't crack!
I have tried your steps and here are the results:
Note:
->Assign a manual IP address and Google DNS - I already had assigned it a static IP + Google DNS Yesterday [192.168.1.232]
All steps below are done in order
1. Perform a hard reset on the printer - Done
2. Update the printer’s firmware - Checked again, Already updated
3. Use a USB cable to update the printer’s firmware - N/A , already updated
4. Uninstall and reinstall the printer software at the root level - Done
5. Created a new local user account, Logged in, Downloaded Driver from your link
6. Setup asks me to connect my printer
7. It detects my printer and then "Installing Network Printer" for 5 minutes
Then this happens:
7. I also tried adding printer Manually using the New account but no vain.
All this was done on a new Local account:
Still can't print anything, This is how it looks when i install the driver manually using My Printer is old, Help me find it option in Add a printer which is not listen in Devices and Printers in Control Panel
The below is a 10 seconds GIF clip
If you got any more things i could try, let me know 🙂
Thanks again for trying to help me!

I have reviewed the post. Thanks for the update and your brilliant efforts are greatly appreciated. If you could get hold of a USB cable that fits the computer and the printer then you could try these steps. install it as a USB printer and convert it to a wireless connection by following directions from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-ink-advantage-3540-e-all-in-one-printer-series/52859... (HP Printers - Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection)
Now check if the issue gets fixed. Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

as i said in my original post,
"
THINGS I CAN NOT TRY:
1. Reinstall Windows (pls no :(( )
2. Use the printer cable to print (Lost it :(( )
"
I do not have any sources of obtaining the cable as i live in a remote area, is there nothing else i can do except getting a cable?
