My deskjet 3700 series updated and now has no option for printing to scale. I used it before printing patterns. Now I have no use for the printer. How can I get the option back?

@Kcriss76, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Printer Settings in Printer Preferences

  • Open the Control Panel on your computer.
  • Go to Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP DeskJet 3700 and select Printing Preferences.
  • Look for a setting related to scaling, such as "Page Scaling" or "Fit to Page".
    • This might be under Paper/Quality, Layout, or Advanced settings.
  • If found, make sure it's enabled and set to your desired option (such as "Scale to fit" or "100%").

Check the Print Dialog Box

  • Open the document you want to print.
  • Go to File > Print.
  • In the Print dialog box, select your HP DeskJet 3700 as the printer.
  • Click on Preferences or Properties (depending on your OS).
  • Look for a tab called Layout or Advanced. Check for options like Scale to Fit, Custom Scale, or Percentage.
    • Set it to "Fit to Page" or manually adjust the percentage to scale the document.

Update/Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Sometimes a driver update may cause issues with missing features. You can try updating or reinstalling the printer drivers.

Steps:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Search for HP DeskJet 3700 drivers.
  • Download the latest driver for your printer and install it.
  • After installation, restart your computer and check if the scaling option is available.

Check for Software or App-Specific Settings

  • If you are printing from a specific app, like a pattern editor or PDF viewer, check the app’s print settings directly.
  • Some programs have their own settings for scaling that can override the printer's default settings.
    • For example, in Adobe Acrobat or Photoshop, check for "Size Options" or "Page Setup" to find a scaling option.

Printer Firmware Update

  • Open the HP Smart app (if installed) or visit the HP website.
  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer.
  • If an update is available, perform the update and then check the printer settings again.

Reset Printer Settings

If none of the above works, you may want to reset your printer settings to the default.

  • On your printer, go to the Settings or Setup menu.
  • Look for Restore Defaults or Factory Reset and confirm.
  • Once reset, check if the scaling options are available again.

Use Third-Party Software for Scaling

  • If your printer software is still not showing the scaling option, you can also use third-party printing tools or apps like Windows built-in PDF Viewer to handle scaling when printing patterns.

Test on Another Device

If possible, try connecting your printer to another device (like another computer or smartphone) to see if the scaling option is available there.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
