Microsoft Windows 11

I am trying to connect my Deskjet 4158e to my wifi network.

Using the HP Smart App on my phone, I

  1. Selected Add New Printer
  2. Selected Set up new printer - Get started
  3. Selected WiFi
  4. On the Add Printer screen, I selected DeskJet 4100 series (HP=Setup<6C_DeskJet 4100 series)
  5. On the Connect to WiFi screen, I entered my network WiFi password.
  6. On the Connecting screen, it says PRINTER FOUND.
  7. Then it says Preparing the Printer - Starting Printer Setup.
  8. After about 4 minutes, I get a dialog:

    Connecting printer to Wi-Fi
It's taking longer than usual to connect to Wi-Fi, but we appreciate your patience. You can wait or exit mobile setup.

  9. I select WAIT and it returns to the Preparing the Printer page. After another few minutes, I get the error again.

I've tried using the desktop/windows app. It shows the printer in OFFLINE status. I tried the DIAGNOSE & FIX option, and it just runs for about 6 minutes, then nothing.

When I try to add the printer new, using the desktop app, I get this error:
