 Help!!!

I'm trying to setup my older 720 series printer to my new desktop running windows 7 home premium 64bit.I got the lastest drivers downloaded and installed everything looks good so far. When I go to print test page, printer turns on but nothing prints.Print queue shows (0 docements pending). Did the start spool thing in ( services- printer spool) still nothing prints.I went to HP forums and saw older posts about the patch for windows 7 64bit and up.I downloaded save patch hit open and it opened in (Wordpad). Not sure if this patch is still avaible and good. Can someone help with this printer problem and maybe post new patch.I think this might be my probelm too.

Running printer on newly installed PCIe parallel port card.

Hello, @matty33 - Hope you are well 🙂

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that you are having issues while installing the Deskjet 720c on the Windows PC. I would recommend you use the Windows built-in drivers to tackle this issue. Windows 7 OS comes with the built-in printer drivers. Simply turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC. The drivers will be installed in 2-3 minutes. Go to Control panel - Devices and printers to check the printer entry and make it as default printer if needed.

Check http://hp.care/2nxKJv8 for additional instructions.

Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Good luck 🙂

Have all lastest drivers installed but still can't print. When I go to print printer comes on print queue shows (1 document printing) but nothing prints.I've gone to Services checked (Pint Spooler) to see set for (Start - Automatic). When I go to print and queue says printing print  spooler doesn't show (Running) just start.I still think I have a problem with the spooler.Anyone have any ideas!!

Hi @matty33,

I read the reply completely. Great effort and Kudos to you for that. 🙂 Did you try the built-in drivers from windows from the previous post? As @Dvortex is out of office for the day, I am taking over from here. If you've not tried the built in drivers from the previous link, please try it and that should fix the issue.

Please uninstall the printer drivers by following these steps:

Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)

  • Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • Restart the PC again.

Then please try to install the printer drivers by performing these steps from this link which is an accepted forums solution given by an expert. lookup page#1 and it gives you screenshots also. This should do the trick for you.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂
