I purchased new HP computer 2 weeks ago. Old computer had windows 10, this computer came with windows 11, 64 bit. I can see printer under "devices" in control panel and can select the printer in word for printing, Print job goes to print queue, but does not print. I have "removed" printer and "added" printer. Unplugged USB and power and plugged back in. Any suggestions on how to get it to print again?

Ok, thank you @mocha_jo for trying to install.
Please remember we are volunteers trying to help other users to install printers. 😊
Let me tell you that I have done 4 older driver installations on my Laptop with Windows 11 and these installations were completed and Ok.
So again try to install only the basic driver with the following options:
1. Open the installation driver and click Install button.
2. Then in the Review installation options window select the next two options:
- Internet connection usage settings
- HP software to be installed, click here to customize
3. For the Internet connection usage settings select:
- Would you like HP to check for updates automatically ? - click - No thank you, I will check for myself
- Would you like HP to provide this for you ? - click - No thank you
4. Also in the other window about "HP software to be installed, click here to customize"
select only two options:
- Photosmart and Deskjet Drivers (Required)
- HP Imaging Device functions
5. Then check the option for "I have reviewed and accept the installation agreements and settings" and then click Next button.
6. Then continue the software installation.
7. When the software asks for the USB connection, then turn on and connect the USB Cable to the printer.
8. Then check in the Configuration > Devices and printers > for the Deskjet D1400 series printer.
I hope this helps you to complete the software installation for your printer. 😊

My screen looks a little different than what you show. My options on the left are:
Install More Software
Uninstall
Read Me
Add a Device
HP Smart Deals
I did a screen shot but couldn't get it transferred over to here. I also got a message "This app can't run because it causes security or performance on windows. A new version may be available. Check with your software provider for an updated version that runs on this version of windows."
I have Windows 11.

Hi @mocha_jo ,
It looks like you already installed the software.
I am also taking screenshots and doing the installation over Windows 11.
Then select the option for "Add a Device" and follow the instructions to complete.

I hope you don't get tired of trying to help me! When I was in the process of "installing device" a message popped up saying "Device not found. Your device does not appear to be connected. Would you like help?" When I said "yes" I would like help, it refers me to "troubleshoot" in "read me." I will try to check that out tomorrow. I don't see why I get a message that "device does not appear to be connected." I can send jobs to the printer and see that they are in the queue...they just don't print. I can see the printer flagged as my default printer.

Ok @mocha_jo
.,.,.., .,., .,.,.
So this looks like the USB connection is not working properly.
Turn on Printer and then try to connect USB cable in different USB ports in the computer.
Check where Windows displays a popup with something like "USB connected".
If that doesn´t work then you should get another USB 2.0 cable, just to make sure this is not the problem.

Last question and then I give up. When I go to "device mgt" (I think that's what it was called) my printer is recognized in "print queue" but not recognized under the heading"printers." Are any of your suggestions you've made so far something that should correct my problem.
I've switched my printer to different ports with no succcess and replaced the USB cable.
