I just downloaded the printer software here: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?locale=en_US, which allowed me to now make scans and copies. However I still cannot print. In the print queue, it says it finished printing, but it has not. I am connected with the printer using a USB.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- When was the last time the printer was working fine?
- Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
While you respond to that, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check whether the issue is resolved.

I bought the printer a long time ago and I may or may not have been able to print something back then (can't remember but it's likely I was able to print). I started to use it again and I wasn't able to print, so I deleted the printer from my Printers & Scanners, then reinstalled the software now. I have not made any software changes to my computer.

It looks like you were interacting with @The_Fossette, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out.
It sounds like an issue with the printer driver installed on your Mac, removing the existing driver and adding a compatible driver may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
6.) Try to print.
Let me know how it goes!

That works! It can now print. Thank you!
Do you know how to set it up so it can print wirelessly? I currently have to plug in the USB cable. When I press the wireless button on the printer, the blue light blinks.

You are welcome! Since the printer is already connected to your Mac using a USB cable we can convert a USB printer to wireless. You may use the steps available here to convert a USB printer to wireless.
Keep me posted!

Let's use the Wireless Setup tool in HP Utility to setup the printer wireless:
1.) Open Finder , click Go in the top menu bar, click Applications, double-click the HP folder, and then double-click HP Utility.
2.) From the All Settings tab, click Wireless Setup to launch the utility.
