Suddenly the icon on my desktop for HP 7610 do not work anymore.
It opens devicesetup.exe
The installation find the printer ,
add the driver and the it hungs in "Installing printer"
the printer driver is installed.
I can use the printer to print, but i cannot scan ( i always used the desktop icon to run the scanner)
if during device scan, i choose device not listed, i can enter the ip address, the setup program find the printer,
it ask my how to check ink level,
and then it shows another window where there is a next button,
and then everything closes, while i remember that after this next, the setup program ask me for printer registration.
The printer is working correctly in another 2 pcs. But i cannot install the software in any new pc.
I already tried to uninstall completely the full driver package, reboot, reinstall, delete the spool driver folder, use Revo uninstaller,
How can scan correctly with hp software ? with windows 10 i found HP smart, but it ha less usefull options.
waiting for your help
Tks

@Grisu70, Welcome to HP Support Community!
HP Print and Scan Doctor detects missing printer software or problems that might be resolved by installing the latest software.
Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
You can also try root level uninstallation and reinstallation of the printer drivers-
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
- Select your HP Printer
- Select Uninstall
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
- In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
- Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
- Click on the “Drivers” tab
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
- Select Ok
- Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
- Close Devices and Printers.
You can download and install the latest printer software from here.
Let me know if this helps.
Cheers 🙂

Are you able to print fine from your PC?
To resolve the scanning issue, try installing our generic HP Scan Extended application, which provides you with a TWAIN driver that can be used with TWAIN apps.
You can get this application and TWAIN driver from here:
HP Scan Extended
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi For Windows.
It has the same features as scanning from the HP Support Assistant.
Hope this helps!
Keep me posted.
Cheers 🙂

Appreciate your efforts and time.
To isolate the issue, I would recommend you to create a new user account on your PC.
Create a local user account
- Select the Start button, select Settings > Accounts and then select Family & other users. (In some editions of Windows you'll see Other users.)
- Select Add someone else to this PC.
- Select I don't have this person's sign-in information, and on the next page, select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
- Enter a user name, password, password hint or choose security questions, and then select Next.
Login to the new user account and install the printer software from the HP website.
You can download and install the latest printer software from here.
Let me know the outcome.
Cheers 🙂

Perform Sfc/scannow. System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.
For Windows 10:
- Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).
-
In the Command Prompt type the following command and press Enter:
sfc /scannow
You can try a system restore to the date before the issue started occuring-
- Create a Restore Point
- Download a fresh copy of the Full Feature software
- Remove any existing printer software from Programs and Features / Apps and Features
- Restart the computer and log in
- Install Full Feature Software (look in your Downloads folder and Double-Click on the file)
- Restart the computer and log in to finish the installation
Let me know the outcome.
Cheers 🙂
