HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My "devices and printers" show 2 icons for my printer. These are HP OFFICEJET PRO 8710 PCL-3 and HPC03F58 (HP OFFICEJET PRO 8710). Can anyone tell me why this is and which I should use please?

Open

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on the printer designated as the PCL-3

Select Printer Properties

Select Tab Ports

Note which port connection is active - it is likely the LPT1 (or similarly numbered LPT port)

Right-Click on the printer designated as HPC03F58

Select Printer Properties

Select Tab Ports

Note which port connection is active - it is likely a WSD port or possibly a standard TCP/IP port

In most cases, you will want to use the printer that is designated as HPC03F58

Optional > Set the default printer as the printer designated as HPC03F58

General Example - Printer Properties
