Hi @ChrisRichards,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Setting up digital fax on an HP ENVY Photo 7800 series printer involves a few steps. Keep in mind that the exact steps might vary slightly based on the printer's firmware version and the macOS version you're using.

Here's a general guide to help you get started:

Connect the Printer: Make sure your HP ENVY Photo 7800 printer is properly connected to your Mac via a USB cable, Ethernet, or wireless network.

Install Software: Ensure you have the latest HP printer software and drivers installed on your Mac. You can download these from the official HP website or use Apple's Software Update to check for any available updates.

Access the Printer's Embedded Web Server: To set up digital fax, you will likely need to access the printer's embedded web server. This can usually be done by entering the printer's IP address into a web browser on your Mac. You can find the IP address on the printer's display or by printing a network configuration page.

Configure Digital Fax: Once you're in the printer's embedded web server interface, look for the fax settings. The specific steps might differ, but generally, you'll need to do the following:

  • Enable fax services if they're not already enabled.
  • Set up your fax header (sender information) if required.
  • Configure your fax preferences, including resolution, contrast, and other settings.

Set Up Fax Recipients: Add fax recipients' contact information, including their fax numbers, into the printer's address book. This will make it easier to send faxes directly from your Mac without having to enter the fax number manually every time.

Sending a Digital Fax: Once everything is set up, you can send a digital fax from your Mac using the print dialog in applications like Preview, Microsoft Word, etc. Here's a general outline of how to do this:

  • Open the document you want to fax.
  • Go to the "File" menu and choose "Print."
  • Select your HP ENVY Photo 7800 printer from the list of available printers.
  • In the print dialog, look for an option related to faxing. It might be under a dropdown menu or a separate tab. Select this option.
  • Choose the recipient from your printer's address book.
  • Adjust any fax-specific settings, such as resolution or contrast.
  • Click "Print" or "Send" to send the fax.
