Since my HP software for my HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e printer was reinstalled, all my applications (Office 360, FoxIt PDF, CyberLink apps, separate calendar and address book app, etc.) default to the FAX printer mode despite all the settings at the OS level show the 9015e as my default printer.

I have followed all the different instructions provided by both HP and Microsoft websites and forums trying to disable (preferably remove) the FAX driver without success  That includes clearing all caches, rebooting, etc., all with not success.

The only thing that is new is that both my printers (9015e and 9730) now show “Windows protected print mode” as ON.  However, the “Let Windows manage my default printer”  is OFF

-- Short Version --

Switch off  "Windows Protected Print Mode"

Nothing you do will provide the results you expect until you switch off  "Windows Protected Print Mode"

Switch off Protected Print and then recheck / adjust / assess your situation.

For example,

Windows Protected Print Mode normally prevents you from adjusting Printer Properties and selecting the HP Driver you want (need) to use.

This limitation is true in spite of having installed the full driver printer software.

The limitation is true in spite of which applications, drivers, settings you enable, install, adjust.

Printer Properties → Tab Advanced → Driver = Select the Installed HP driver
