Product: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I can't tell the differences between the (new?) HP Smart and HP Utility for macOS 10.15? Do I need both? Or HP Smart is replacing HP Utility? Please advise. Thanks!

HP Smart replaces the HP Utility app indeed, you do not need both of them.

Thanks Shlomi. How do I remove HP Utility cleanly from my iMac? One more question: should I use AirPrint "driver" or HP driver for my HP printers?
