HP Deskjet 3054

iMac M3 Sonoma 14.3.1

HP Smart App 17.5.1

HP Smart shows my Deskjet 3050 J610 Series via Bonjour with Status=Ready, Network Status=Connected

MacOS/Printers & Scanners also shows my Deskjet 3050 J610 Series ready to go

From HP Smart app the Printer Status report does generate a printed page (no errors shown), however in printing e.g. Word doc, I select the Deskjet 3050 J610 Series... and I see the print job hit the MacOS queue (Printing... cycling up the %, Completed), but no error messages and no response--not even via LED or mechanical sound--from the printer. Up until a month ago when I swapped in the M3, the printer and scanner worked flawlessly, (but I also was not apparently required to use this HP Smart).

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi @R-RRRRRRRRRRRRR,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer series - J610 Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

It sounds like there might be an issue with the communication between your iMac and the HP Deskjet 3050 printer when printing from certain applications like Word.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Restart Printer and Computer: Sometimes, simply restarting both the printer and the computer can resolve communication issues.
  • Check Printer Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the same network as your iMac. If it's a wireless connection, make sure the Wi-Fi network settings on the printer are correct.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Visit the HP website to check if there are any updated drivers available for your printer model. Install any available updates to ensure compatibility with your iMac's operating system.   Software and Drivers for HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer series - J610
  • Reset Printing System: In macOS, you can reset the printing system to clear any problematic print jobs or settings. To do this, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, right-click on the printer, and select "Reset printing system." Then re-add the printer and try printing again.
  • Check Printer Settings: Make sure the printer settings in the application you're printing from (e.g., Word) are configured correctly. Ensure that the correct printer is selected and that there are no print settings causing conflicts.
  • Try Printing from Different Applications: Test printing from different applications to see if the issue is specific to one program or if it occurs across multiple applications.
  • Check for Printer Firmware Updates: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Firmware updates can sometimes address compatibility issues and improve performance.Update the firmware on an HP printer
