In order to do two-sided scanning, since HP Smart won't do it, I understand that need to install HP Universal Scan - Full Feature Software and Driver. I downloaded it, and during the installation process they ask me to connect the printer to my internet router via a wired connection. Is this a REQUIREMENT or can I somehow use this driver with the WiFi connection that works well for everything else? Thanks for any help you can offer me.

No, but
here's what you need to do:
- Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list.
- the printer must be disconnected from the computer, i.e. disable WiFi, disconnect LAN and/or USB cable.
- Restart the PC
- Close all programs
- download only this complete package: HP Universal Scan - Full Feature Software and Driver
- Close all programs
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE,
File name: Full_Webpack-51.8.5837-SJ0001_Full_Webpack.exe (411.1 MB) - The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
- Restart the System again
- Now the installation is complete.
Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
