Welcome to the HP Community --
The Printer hardware determines whether automatic 2-sided / duplex printing is supported.
Some printers do not support the automatic duplex feature.
For those printers where automatic 2-sided printing is supported, there are frequently limitations based on paper size and / or paper type.
Tray and Paper Settings (Printer Control Panel or EWS) must reflect the paper size / type loaded in the tray.
Lastly, the application or software plays a part -
Printing Preferences and Printer Properties must be set to support the feature
The job configuration must be correctly set to print 2-sided
