When printing double sided from my iPad or IPhone 16 the printer (HP Envy 6132e) cancels the print job after a few pages. The same document can be printed directly when using single sided printing.
tried from windows 11 laptop which works intermittently
HP support not helpful saying the issue is with Apple and I should contact them for an update . I am running the latest iOS 26.01

Hi @Jim19543
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand you are facing duplex printing issue with your printer, not to worry I'll do my best to resolve this issue.
️Steps to try:
1. Use HP Smart App Instead of AirPrint
- Download the HP Smart app from the App Store.
- Open your document within the app and select Print > Two-Sided > On.
- This method has worked more reliably for some users than printing directly from other apps.
2. Split the Document
- If the job cancels after a few pages, try printing in smaller batches (e.g., 3–5 pages at a time).
- This reduces memory load and may bypass the cancellation trigger.
3. Print from Windows with Driver Tweaks
- On your Windows 11 laptop:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your printer > Printer Properties > Device Settings.
- Ensure Duplex Unit is set to Installed.
- Use HP Smart or Print Preview to manage duplex jobs.
4. Update Printer Firmware
- Visit: HP Envy 6132e Firmware & Drivers
- Install the latest firmware to ensure AirPrint compatibility is maximized.
You're doing everything right—this is a frustrating but solvable issue.

Thanks Hawks_eye
Your solution is fine and it goes a long way to resolving my issue
I am using the latest drivers and the latest iOS
HP said it was a hardware issue and did try and replace the printer without trying to 'prove' the hardware was faulty. An advisor from the Philippines did remotely reinstalled the drivers on my windows based laptop which did seem to work initially so I returned the replacement printer. That has now completely messed up my warranty because the warranty I my actual HP printer was cancelled by HP
nobody in HP customer support wants to know or offer help
disgusting customer service
the issue of warranty is not your problem but thank you for your response

Thank you for sharing all of that, and I’m genuinely sorry for the way this situation has unfolded.
You’ve been incredibly patient and proactive—trying multiple platforms, reinstalling drivers, even navigating a replacement process—only to be left with a disrupted warranty and no clear resolution.
From a technical standpoint, your instincts were spot-on. The fact that duplex printing works intermittently on Windows but fails consistently on iOS points to a driver-level or firmware-level communication fault, not a hardware defect.
I’m glad the workaround helped somewhat, and I’ll be here if you ever want to revisit the issue or explore deeper firmware resets or AirPrint alternatives.
You’ve done everything right—and I truly appreciate your persistence and clarity in documenting the journey.
Thanks again for your confirmation, and we wish you an amazing day ahead! 😊
