What you need to do is ...

  • turn off printer but remember position of right arrow and cancel buttons  (yellow circled)
  • keep pressed both and switch on printer
  • when show the screen (in my case HP logo) release both buttons
  • leave printer to complete configuration itself
  • ready to print

Please note that my printer is printing without a problem, however, still I have HP logo only as shown in the photo but not the usual HP screen.

Ive reset the NVRAM, using almost this method, I needed to do lower right quadrant as the touch screen version.

 

However its the photocopy option or ink levels on the screen I can no longer see. Ive uninstalled and re installed, allowing print, scan but not photocopy...

Before firmware-all working, now its just not the same...

SO it seems for us Mac users, a new FW Oct 2020 fixes the printer, a weekend of trying to rollback the driver using web archive, I checked the HP site today and it’s now working again using latest firmware

After the very slow responsiveness from HP on this forum to finally ending up spending about 1h30 on the line with the customer support trying to do procedures that I had already done to no avail, I gave up and I did throw a way the printer in the dechetterie last Saturday. Then I saw you message. And I did rush to the dechetterie to try to salvage the printer. 

it was a bit dirty but luckily no rain over the last 3 days. 

 

All in all, I did apply the new firmware. and the printer is back online and fully functional!!!!

 

I was so sure it was a bug in the firmware!! 

 

So all in all, complaining hard be all of us seems to have initiated a signal with HP to correct the bug... maybe. what a mess!
