Hi @Peebee4275

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m sorry you’re running into this — it’s frustrating when the printer shows as offline and the troubleshooter only reports “Driver Check Issue Not Fixed.”

You’ve already tried the right initial steps, so let’s focus on clearing the driver conflict and restoring proper communication between Windows and your printer.

Step 1: Remove duplicate printer entries

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right‑click and remove all instances of your printer.
  • Restart your PC before reinstalling.

Step 2: Install the full driver package

Windows often loads a basic driver that can’t handle all functions.

  • Visit the official driver page for your model:
HP Printers – Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter your printer model and select Windows 11.
  • Download and install the Full Software Solution package.
  • Restart after installation.

Step 3: Add the printer through the HP App

  • Open the HP App from the Start menu.
  • Sign in with your HP account.
  • Select Add Printer and follow the prompts to connect via Wi‑Fi or USB.
  • Confirm the printer shows only once in Devices and Printers.

Step 4: Adjust spooler settings

If jobs still hang:

  • Right‑click the printer > Printer Properties > Advanced tab.
  • Select Print directly to printer instead of spooling.
  • Test with a multi‑page document.

Step 5: Update firmware

  • Return to the driver page and check for the latest firmware update.
  • Install it to ensure compatibility with Windows updates.

You’ve already been thorough in your troubleshooting. By removing duplicate entries, installing the full driver package, and reconnecting through the HP App, the “Driver Check Issue Not Fixed” message should clear and the printer should come back online.

Hello.  I have an HP LaserJet Pro MFP M182nw printer (color).  Lately, it continuously says the printer is offline and the only way I can print is by physically connecting my MacBook Pro to it with a cord.  I have done all the trouble-shooting suggested online by HP… all the restarting, setting up, etc.  I have the HP app installed on my MacBook Pro and have run diagnostics from there.  Here is a screenshot of the message I get:

I have restarted the router, restarted the computer, restarted the printer, disconnected/reconnected printer, etc.  Nothing works.  I have looked online for videos on how to set up…  Nothing works.  Yet, my daughter can print remotely from her Chromebook.  In addition to this “driver check issue not fixed”, the wifi button on the control panel of the printer does not light up.  Wireless is “on”, but there is no way to check the network to which it’s connected.

Here is some other information on my printer:

Hi @LorilynnBloomer,

Let’s rebuild your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M182nw’s wireless and Mac driver connection the simplest way possible.

STEP 1: Get the Printer Back Into Wireless Setup Mode

This model has no touchscreen, so resetting the wireless is done using button combinations.

Do this on the printer:

  1. Press and hold the Wireless button + Cancel button together for 5 seconds.
    • The wireless light should begin blinking.
    • This forces the printer into Wi‑Fi Setup Mode.

If the light does NOT blink, do this instead:

  1. Press and hold just the Wireless button for 8–10 seconds.
  2. Wait 30 seconds. The wireless light should blink.

⚠️ If the Wi‑Fi light still won’t blink, the wireless module may be stuck; we can fix that with a firmware reset later.

STEP 2: Reconnect Using HP Smart (Mac)

Since the printer is already in HP Smart, it may be stuck referencing the old network.

On your Mac:

  1. Open HP App
  2. Click Printers → choose your M182nw
  3. Select Remove Printer
  4. Quit the HP Smart app
  5. Reopen HP Smart
  6. Click Add Printer (“+”)
  7. HP Smart should now detect it in Setup Mode
  8. Choose your Wi‑Fi network → enter Wi‑Fi password

When the wireless icon on the printer turns solid, it’s connected.

STEP 3: Fix macOS Driver Corruption

This is likely why HP Smart gave you the “driver check” error.

On your Mac:

  1. Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners
  2. Select your HP M182nw
  3. Click Remove Printer
  4. Restart your Mac
  5. Download the official HP driver package for macOS directly from HP:
👉 HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182nw | HP® Support
  6. Install the full HP Easy Start / Printer driver package
  7. Add the printer again from System Settings

HP Easy Start also repairs broken macOS print queues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
