I have an old piece of equipment which uses a Windows XP 32 bit home machine (which cannot be upgraded and has VERY limited functionality).
The only way this machine will let me install the drivers is through the install wizard but when I download the drivers from HP website, I only get an EXE file but the wizard is looking for the driver itself (INF or INS file I think). So the wizard will not see an appropriate file.
I cannot simply run the .exe because this windows box won't even give me a start menu even in safe mode. Is there a way I can get just the driver file somehow?
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
When you run the EXE file, it extracts its content to a temporary folder.
Please select Run from the Start menu, type %temp% and press OK, the temporary folder launches.
Locate the latest HP installation folder which starts with 7z (e.g. 7z1234S), if there are several review its modification date to locate the latest folder.
Copy the path of this folder and paste it when following the Add Printer wizard, there the INF configuration file is stored, if it does not locate the file there browse to its Driver sub-folder and there it should be.
If you experience further issues, do you have Service Pack 3 installed on your Windows XP machine? its installation is supported on Service Pack 3 and not on any earlier OS version.
